Making Disciples
The most simple statement of the purpose of the church is that it exists to make disciples, or followers, or imitators of Jesus. Thus the Apostle Paul told those whom he pastored: “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” (1Corinthians 11.1). Nor was this Paul's idea; the last command which Jesus gave before returning to the Father (most often known as The Great Commission) was that we go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28.19).
But what does it mean to imitate Christ? Surely we must not be satisfied with a vague feeling about what would Jesus do in a particular situation! Instead, in seeking to be like him, we trust that God will enable us to live, think, love, serve, evangelize, care, and believe as Jesus would. We want to be so transformed by grace that others see Jesus’ life in us.
Visit Us
We have designed our web site to give you some idea of how we hope to fulfill the work Jesus gives us to do. But the real test is not what we say online; it is who we are in person. But all means — read and consider what we say here. But do please visit us personally this Sunday. And if you have questions, please call or email us at: TCOTC@fuse.net or (513) 851-5100.
