Our Elders
Maury Penn

Pictured here are Maury and his wife, Toni.
Maury writes: I was raised in a Christian home in which my family regularly attended a strongly evangelical church. I came to a personal trust in Jesus Christ as my Savior & Lord around twelve years of age. Throughout my teens I avoided many youthful excesses out of a fear of God's chastisement. Although often resentful of his intrusion into my life & selfish desires at the time, I later learned to thank him & love him for his protection and guidance during those critical years.
I attended a Christian college, then married my childhood sweetheart in the summer of my graduation. During my late 20s I was encouraged by a pastor to apply myself to a deeper understanding of the Bible's doctrines of grace. Thereafter I felt Christ's call to serve as an elder, helping to provide leadership and spiritual care for his people in the local church.
Blessed with a loving wife and three grown children all living by faith, I am incredibly blessed and thankful for God's wonderful grace to me. I remain active in serving his church as I now approach my "senior" years. Phil. 1:6 is of great encouragemet to me: "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
